Reliance Jio Infocomm has now expanded its outfit by signing a deal with AirWire Technologies (AirWire) to offer the latter’s Connected Car IoT device to customers in India.
Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio Infocomm has awarded a contract to the US-based AirWire Technologies (AirWire) to offer the latter's India Manufactured connected car device to customers in India.
This Car Device is being manufactured in Partnership with Jio and AirWire, according to an official statement.
Jio's partnership with AirWire provides the connected car device platform in the vehicle for our connected car initiative, Jio Car Connect. Driving, owning, maintaining and securing the vehicle will now fundamentally change with Jio Car Connect and the AirWire device,” a Reliance Jio spokesperson said in a statement, as mentioned on ET.
The AirWire headquartered in Reno, Nevada, USA has a portfolio of Connect Car Apps and services such as hotspot features, location-based apps like (GPS), automobile telematics security and safety in th telco plan-India advanced 4G/LTE Network.
Having garnered over 100 million 4G mobile users in India with the help of free data and voice services, Jio is planning to enter automobile telematics with the launch of this car connected device.
Reliance Jio is currently want to launch the device as soon as possible in India.
The Price is equal to or less than its Jio's Mifi device which is costs about Rs.2,000 INR, a source has told ET.
A Jio spokesperson said in a statement that the telco has been working closely with AirWire in developing this unique product to enable a suite of services and apps that will make the driving experience unique for the customers.

AirWire Connected Car Device is basically a device which Plugs into the vehicle's Onboard diagnostics Port (OBD-II, which is situated just below your car fuse) over a cable in the vehicle to provide uninterrupted connectivity through Reliance Jio's advanced 4G LTE nework technology. It has a cloud framework which uploads important vehicle data for future analysis and also provide convenient and useful apps and services to the consumer's smartphones.
