Upcoming Huawei's Gaming Smartphone May Arrive this Year

Huawei made waves in the smartphone market this year with the launch of its first ever triple rear camera-laden Huawei P20 Pro smartphone. But it is planning to go one step ahead in next 12 months. The Chinese tech firm is planning to enter two new smartphone categories – gaming and foldable. Until now, the focus of the company has been on photography in smartphones.

Out of the two categories, Huawei will be launching its first gaming smartphone first. The handset will be arriving in the second half of this year, reports Gadget Match website citing Huawei Consumer Business president, Jim Xu. The gaming smartphone is being said to take advantage of the firm’s new GPU Turbo technology that was introduced with the Honor 9i.

In addition to this one can expect the upcoming Huawei’s gaming smartphone to come with a powerful set of specifications and even some accessories.

If the information mentioned here holds weight, one can expect the device to be a rival to Asus’ recently launched ROG Phone or the Razer Phone. We are yet to see what it has in store for gaming enthusiasts.

Secondly, Xu has reportedly confirmed that Huawei is working on a foldable smartphone. It is not for sure if the new device will be truly foldable, something we have seen in patents filed by Samsung, or a dual screen device attached with a hinge, like the ZTE Axon M. The details are scarce at the moment.

Also mentioned is that this upcoming foldable smartphone is expected to arrive in 2019. For those unaware, Samsung too is said to launch its foldable smartphone next year. However, Xu says that there are no plans to launch handsets with mechanical parts, something similar to what is there in Vivo Nex and Oppo Find X.

A few days ago there were reports citing a patent registered by the company, indicating that Huawei is working on a truly bezel-less display smartphone as well.
